Trash & Treasure FAQ's

One person’s trash is another’s treasure. Trash & Treasure Spirits use only 100% natural ingredients, with most of these having strong “waste” claims behind them. They're packed full of good ingredients - which prevents them from going in the bin, and crafted to perfection by our expert team to deliver real flavour, for real moments.

Currently, we have our Trash & Treasure Citrus Vodka and our Trash & Treasure Tropical Rum, with plans for more in the future!

1. 1. Citrus Vodka – we use discarded lemon husks from a local fruit factory that have had all the juice removed from them. Typically, these husks would have gone to waste, but we’ve rescued them and use them in both alcohol maceration and distillation process to create a super zesty liquid. After distillation, we dilute the high strength spirit to bottling strength with some sugar and water. We also utilise leftover malt dust from a local brewery in the distillation process to add creaminess and mouthfeel to the final spirit.
      
      
   2. Tropical Rum – we use pineapple and mango skins from a local fruit processing factory in Corby and we macerate them in high strength Caribbean rum. This macerate is then distilled and after a period of resting, diluted to bottling strength with the addition of water, sugar and extracts of passionfruit, pineapple and toasted coconut, all by-products from aqueous juice production. We also utilise leftover malt dust from a local brewery in the distillation process to add creaminess and mouthfeel to the final spirit. Spirit caramel (E150A) is added to achieve a consistent colour.

Nose: Bold aromatics of fresh, zesty lemon and candied sherbet

Palate: Smooth and creamy, giving the complex citrus notes of freshly squeezed lemon on the palate

Finish: A sour and tangy kick with subtle sweetness

Nose: Vibrant, fresh passionfruit erupts from the glass

Palate: Sweet and juicy mango and pineapple coats the palate with a touch of vanilla

Finish: Sweet finish with caramelised pineapple and toasted coconut

Both our Citrus Vodka and our Tropical Rum are 37.5% ABV.

For our Trash & Treasure Citrus Vodka, we use grain neutral spirit.

For our Trash & Treasure Tropical Rum, we use White Caribbean Rum which is produced using a fractional distillation process from fermented Sugar Cane molasses and/or Sugar Cane juice and is described as a light rum with typical notes and slight hints of vanilla.

Yes, both Trash & Treasure Citrus Vodka and Tropical Rum are suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

Yes, both Trash & Treasure Citrus Vodka and Tropical Rum are gluten free.

Yes, both Trash & Treasure Citrus Vodka and Tropical Rum are dairy free.

Given the high ABV content of the range, they do not have a “Best Before” or “Use By” date, however for best results, store your bottle in a cool dark place away from heat and sunlight and minimise headspace within the bottle once opened.

Shake 50 ml Trash & Treasure Citrus Vodka, 25 ml fresh lemon juice and 15 ml sugar syrup with lots of ice. Strain into glass and top with twisted lemon peel for a refreshing vodka sour. Or to keep it simple, top 50 ml Trash & Treasure Citrus Vodka with lemonade.

Add 50 ml Trash & Treasure Tropical Rum, 50 ml mango juice, 50 ml pineapple juice and 25 ml coconut milk to a glass filled with ice. Stir & garnish with twisted lime peel for a zesty rum punch. Or to keep it simple, top 50 ml Trash & Treasure Tropical Rum with ginger ale or coke.

There is added sugar in both Trash & Treasure Citrus Vodka and Tropical Rum for an enhanced flavour experience.

None of the 14 declarable allergens are present in our Trash & Treasure Spirits.
